Gardening

Last Friday we went to our school garden and we planted beans, beets, and lettuce.   We also did a little packet about gardening. Once we were back in class, we watched Bill Nye “The Science Guy” on gardening.   At my home I have a garden. My Mom and I plant beets,  green beans, sugar snap peas, lettuce and carrots.  I like to watch the plants grow and love to pick the vegetables!

Being a Leader

Being a leader isn’t that hard —you just have to use the 3 B’s:   be yourself,  be kind, and be respectful.  Those are the rules. A good leader needs to be on task.  Last year we studied “Great People.”  My person was Nathan Hale.  He was known as America’s first spy.  He disguised himself as a colonial teacher and was captured by the British troops.   He gave his life for his country and he died at 22 years old.   Here’s a photo.Hale

My goal

Today in class we were talking about our goals.   We watched a video about your goals and strengths.  Nelly was having trouble with commitment.  This is my goal.  I want to beat Jackson S.’s team.  They are really good and have not lost a game all season.  I’ll practice 20 minutes extra a day on my baseball skills.  What is your goal?

My Dream Tree House

This is my dream tree house! I really want this !!!

I want a tree house. They are awesome. My first tree house was at my friend’s house. It was so much fun there. There were Nerf toys. There was a chess game.  This is what I want mine to look like.

Helping The Poor

Every year Cub Scouts do a big project to help the poor.   This year we stuffed snowmen with candy bars. We wrote notes wishing the homeless a Merry Christmas.  We also made and decorated birthday cake bags.  Inside the birthday bags were cake mixes, frosting, and candles.  We also collected personal things like shampoo, razors, soap, mittens, socks, toothpaste.

What have you done to make a difference in the world?

My First Trip to Canada

Over spring break  my family and I went to Whistler, Canada.  We drove for 7 hours it was so long.   I watched 4 movies during the long drive.  It was fun to cross the border into another country.  When we got to Whistler our condo wasn’t ready.  They said we needed to wait 1 hour.  While we were waiting we went into the village at Whistler and rented our snowboards and boots.  My Mom booked me and my brother snowboarding lessons for the week.  Our teacher was a young woman from Bondi Beach in Australia.  Her name was Penny and she was an awesome snowboarder!  On our first day we learned how to buckle in and re-buckle.  Then we learned how to snowboard using one foot so we could learn how to balance and push forward.  After our water break we went on beginner kid run and both feet were strapped in.  I learned “heel side and toe side.”  Toe side is going backwards, heel side is going forwards.  It was fun but challenging on toe side.  I fell quite a bit…..more than 5 times.  We had lunch and it was delicious!  I had Chicken Noodle soup and homemade Macaroni and Cheese.  After lunch we went up to the Adult /Teacher course. We did “ZigZag” down the run, it was fun but then  a skier hit me and knocked me down.  I was surprised, it really did not hurt! But Penny came down to help me up.  We practiced more and then we had a snowball fight!!  Annie,  Jacob, Matthew, Owen, Nathan and I beat Penny.   At the last second I hit her with a powerful snowball but it was small.  Then we had to go home on the gondola.   My mom picked us up and she bought Nate and I gigantic carmel apples.  Mine was covered with Oreos and my brother’s had Butterfingers.
